The Reoccurring Dream
Chapter 1: The Reoccurring Dream
Tommy stood in front of Zordon in the old Command Center. “How?” he said. “I thought the old Command Center was destroyed by Rito and Goldar.”
“Tommy, I don’t have time to explain. You just have to listen to me,” Zordon said. “There are evil forces at work.”
“Evil forces?” Tommy asked confused.
“Yes, you need to find your eleven teammates,” Zordon said. “They may be scattered; they may not, but you need to find them. Go back to Angel Grove and back to where the Command Center used to be. Once when you’ve got all your teammates, go there. Alpha 5 and Alpha 6 will tell you the rest.”
Tommy woke up with a start sitting at his desk. “What the hell was that about?” he asked himself. He got up and walked to the bathroom to splash water on his face. “Go back to Angel Grove? Find my old teammates?” He pulled out his wallet and flipped to a certain picture. “Find all of my old teammates?”
He heard a knock on his front door. He moved to open it to see Conner, Ethan, Kira, and Trent. “Hey, guys,” he said stepping over to let them in.
“Hey, Dr. O,” Conner said.
Kira took a look at him. “Dr. O, are you feeling alright?” Kira asked.
“Yeah, Kira,” Tommy said. “It was just a weird dream.”
“Is it the same one that has been plaguing you?” Ethan asked wanting to know.
Tommy has had that dream more times than he cared to admit, and the only one he has told about the dream was Ethan. “Yeah, that’s the one,” Tommy said sighing. “I know what this dream says, but it can’t be real.”
“Sure it could,” Ethan countered. “It could also be telling you to force yourself to speak to her and maybe it really is real.”
“Who’s her?” Conner wanted to know.
Trent, Kira, and Ethan rolled their eyes in a predictable manner that was much like Conner. “Same old Conner,” Trent said.
“What?” Conner said. “Why can’t I know who that is?”
Tommy moved to a chair in the kitchen. “He’s right,” Tommy said. “All of you have a right to know what this dream is about.”
“It’s about time,” Ethan muttered under his breath.
Tommy glared at Ethan for a moment. “In my video, you know how I have been part of the power ranger team for awhile?” Tommy asked.
All of them nodded.
“Zordon said I have to find them and go back to Angel Grove and go to the Command Center,” Tommy said. “And Alpha 5 and Alpha 6 would fill us in.”
All of them looked at him in shock. “I thought the Command Center and Zordon were destroyed,” Kira said.
“They are,” Tommy said. “Which is why I am not sure to believe it or not.”
“Dr. O,” Trent started, “if there’s anything that you had taught all of us as rangers; it’s that anything is possible.”
Tommy looked at Trent with amazement and looked at the faces of his former teammates and students.
They all nodded.
“Now,” Conner said. “That answers one question. What about the other? Who’s her?”
The rest of the team stayed quiet wondering if they should join Conner’s wonderment or not.
Tommy sighed and pulled out his wallet. He took the picture out of his wallet and handed it to Conner.
“Who is she?” Conner asked.
“My first love,” Tommy said.
“Wait,” Kira said when Conner handed her the picture next. She was trying to figure out why the picture looked familiar to her. “She looks familiar. She was on that video too. The original pink ranger. Her name is Kimberly, isn’t it?”
Tommy nodded. “Yeah,” Tommy said. “That’s Kimberly. The video didn’t tell you that shortly after I became a Zeo Ranger, she broke up with me in a letter. She told me that she was in love with someone else.”
“Double ouch,” Conner said. “She didn’t even have the guts and decency to do it in person.”
“Conner!” Kira cried.
“Kira, it’s alright,” Tommy said. “I saw her soon after just as the ranger team upgraded to Turbo. She and Jason were captured by Divatox, so they could be fed to Maligore.”
“Lerigot changed them back,” Kira said remembering the video clearly, “and saved their lives and the world.”
“Well, yes,” Tommy said. “When we got back to Angel Grove, with Rocky and his injury, Jason stepped in to take his place in the martial arts tournament, and Justin took Rocky’s place on the team as the new blue ranger. Kimberly was there too, but she didn’t stick around Angel Grove long.”
“She disappeared, didn’t she?” Kira said. “It was because you snuggled up with Katherine, the second pink ranger.”
“Two pink rangers?” Conner asked astonished. “How lucky were you?”
“Conner,” Ethan said harshly. “I don’t think that’s what Kira had in mind.”
“Ethan’s right,” Kira said. “So, what happened to Katherine?”
“She’s in London doing the dance thing,” Tommy said, “and as for Kimberly dropped off the face of the planet.”
Kira nodded. “Wait?” Kira said. “Katherine the dancer? As in Katherine Hillard? That’s Katherine?”
Tommy nodded. “Yeah,” he said. “That would be her.”
“Why didn’t I put this together sooner?” Kira asked. “Tanya? Tanya Sloan-Park? She’s the singer and she’s married to the former black/green ranger, Adam?”
Tommy nodded again. “Yep,” he said. “That would be them.”
“Adam Park?” Conner said in shock. “Soccer coach, Adam Park?”
Tommy smiled. “Now, you’re getting it,” he said. “So, now you know where four former rangers are.” He included himself into that bunch
“Yeah, we do,” Trent said. “So, that’s a good start for you to get calling to your old teammates, Dr. O.”
“I’d start with Alpha 5 and Alpha 6 to make sure there is an emergency going on,” Ethan said. “Or else the others are going to think you’re insane.”
They all gave Ethan an odd look.
“What?” Ethan asked. “It could happen.”
“How long had he been leader to all of them?” Kira asked.
“Good point,” Ethan said, “but I doubt if any of them are going to dump something if it’s not really happening. Think about it, Dr. O.”
“Come on, Kira,” Trent said. “We have that reservation at that restaurant.”
“I’m coming, Trent,” Kira said. “Whatever the evil force is, Dr. O, I wish you the best of luck.” She got up and walked to take Trent’s offered hand.
Tommy, Conner, and Ethan saw them leave. “It’s about time Trent made a move,” Ethan muttered. “They were eyeing each other since the day they met.”
Thinking of Trent and Kira made Tommy think of him and Kimberly. “Sometimes, Ethan, that’s the way it works, and perhaps it always would,” Tommy said arching his eye to Conner and Ethan. “Now was there a reason for this visit?”
Ethan shook his head while grinning. “Nope,” Ethan said. “I kind of figured that the rest needed to hear about your reoccurring dream, Dr. O.”
“Now, that you have,” Tommy said. “I’ve got some calls to make, and that means you need to make your exits.”
Conner and Ethan looked at each other and then their former teacher/teammate. They both got up and left the house.
“You think that the dream is real?” Conner asked Ethan when they got to his car.
“I wouldn’t be surprise, Conner,” Ethan said, “but it isn’t for us to deal with.”
“I figured he would be taking the four of us with him,” Conner said.
Ethan shook his head. “Do the math, Conner,” Ethan said, “and you’ll see that it doesn’t include you, me, Kira, or Trent. It stops at Turbo with Justin.”
Conner nodded. “Okay,” he said. “Maybe you are right.”
“Of course, I’m right. Come on,” said Ethan. “Let’s leave Dr. O to his thoughts.”
